Master of Health Leadership and Policy: Seniors Care

The Master of Health Leadership and Policy: Seniors Care is a 1-year, cross-disciplinary program comprised of coursework focused on Health Leadership and Policy in Seniors Care. The Seniors care and policy components of the programme will be taught by expert UBC faculty from the School of Nursing, and the Management and Leadership coursework will be provided by faculty from the Faculty of Applied Science and the Sauder School of Business.

We are currently accepting Pre-Admission applications.

Is the MHLP: Seniors Care program for me?

The program is intended for people who aspire to be in leadership roles, like a Director of Care or Program Manager, and need to gain education about bringing together management, leadership and Seniors Care.  If you are already in one of these roles or are a staff member who wants to get there, this is the program for you!

Can I work while I am doing the program?

Everyone is different and you know yourself the best. The program is full-time by UBC’s standards, which means you will need to be at UBC 2 or 3 days per week. In August, there is a ‘bootcamp’ at the Sauder School of business and that will be all week.

Can I do the program part-time?

No. This is a cohort-based program that is intended to be completed in 1 calendar year. Unlike other graduate programs that can go on for several years you will be done in one!

What makes this program particularly unique?

You will have an opportunity to learn leadership concepts & develop leadership skills with an interdisciplinary group of students.  You will also have an opportunity to become part of a network of people and engage with organizations who are passionate about the care of Seniors in its many forms & contexts.

Who can I talk to about the program?

Jennifer Baumbusch at the UBC School of Nursing is happy to answer any questions. Feel free to get in touch by emailing gero@nursing.ubc.ca. Check out the website with application information here: http://apscpp.ubc.ca/program/senior-care/

The program is not just for nurses – anyone who is passionate about Seniors Care and meets the admission criteria is encouraged to apply!
