Gender shapes the lived experience of people living with dementia and their caregivers. There is growing recognition that men, women, and gender diverse individuals experience health and healthcare services differently in community-based dementia care. A main focus of the research activities of this Chair will be to investigate these experiences over time.

There are two main studies associated with this Research Chair. Study 1 is a longitudinal qualitative study that follows dyads (person living with dementia and family/friend caregivers) in the community. Study 2 is a population -based study investigating healthcare service usage by community-dwelling people living with dementia.
